Our Practice

At Intrinsic Chiropractic, our focus is on how the body functions as a whole.

Rather than looking only at the area where pain is felt, care is centered on understanding how joints, muscles, and movement patterns are working together. This perspective helps explain why symptoms sometimes persist or return even after multiple types of care.

The goal of our practice is to support proper movement and function across the entire musculoskeletal system.

Why we take a whole system approach

Many patients come to our office after trying multiple ways to manage their symptoms.

This may include rest, stretching, medication, massage, or treatment focused on one area at a time. In some cases, these approaches help temporarily. In others, symptoms return or shift elsewhere in the body.

One reason this can happen is that when only one structure is addressed, other contributing factors may continue to place stress on the system. Over time, this can affect movement, mobility, and how the body responds to daily activity.

By looking at how the body is working as a whole, care can be structured more intentionally.

How care is approached at Intrinsic Chiropractic

At Intrinsic Chiropractic, care is not built around a preset routine or a single technique.

Each visit is guided by what is actually happening in the body and how things are changing over time. That means care can adapt as progress is made, instead of following a fixed plan regardless of results.

What patients often notice is that care feels more intentional and more personal.

Our approach emphasizes:

• Looking beyond one problem area to understand contributing factors

• Adjusting care based on progress, not assumptions

• Paying attention to how the body moves and responds, not just symptoms

• Combining hands-on care with guidance that supports long-term improvement

• Focusing on meaningful change, not quick fixes

The goal is to help people move better, function more comfortably, and feel confident that their care is thoughtful and responsive to their needs.

About Dr. Craig Nelson

Dr. Craig Nelson has been serving the capital district since 2003.

His approach to care is thoughtful, practical, and grounded in understanding how the body actually moves. Before treatment begins, time is taken to assess movement, identify where stress is building, and understand why symptoms may be returning. Nothing is done automatically, and care is never rushed.

Each decision is based on what is observed, how the body responds, and what makes sense for the individual.

With a background in biomechanics, Dr. Nelson has worked alongside biomedical engineers from RPI and physicians from Albany Medical Center. This experience has shaped a well-rounded approach to musculoskeletal care and earned the trust of surgeons, sports medicine doctors, orthopedic specialists, and physical therapists.

For patients, this means clear and honest care. They leave with a better understanding of what is contributing to their symptoms, what can realistically be improved, and how care is structured to support progress. Treatment is adjusted as results come in, expectations are clear, and the focus remains on meaningful improvement over time.
